As I start to share all these science fiction, fantasy, mystery and romance book recommendations in blog post form, I have to admit it’s interesting seeing much more detailed these recommendations have become in 2023. Yet these book recommendations are important to read because before writers become writers, they are readers. Therefore, please enjoy these fantasy and science fiction book recommendations from May 2022.
The Big Tom By Dean Wesley Smith It's very rare for me to read a novel in a single day but I spent yesterday reading this great fantasy book filled with great, really lovable characters, tons of great plot and it was honestly unputdownable.
My favourite thing about the book was probably the fantasy cat element because that is just so entertaining to see how the cats talk to others, and it was simply brilliant. And if you've ever been around cats then you will know how realistic (and probably real) this is.
So if you enjoy fantasy books, cats and superheroes. Then you really do need to pick up a copy of this great book. Available at all good booksellers.
Big Eyes by Dean Wesley Smith
I really do have to recommended it, since it's another great book in the series that I recommended last week, it's filled with characters you will just fall in love with and it has a brilliant plot, with a great ending. Also if you're a long term reader of Dean's superhero fiction then this book is even more great, because some of the other superheroes pop-in and do their spectacular things. So if you enjoy fantasy books with some mystery elements then you NEED to check out this great book! Available from where you buy books from!
The First Year by Dean Wesley Smith
Readers often ask me as a writer what are my pleasure guilty for reading, and without a doubt one of them has to be Marble Grant stories by Dean Wesley Smith. These are some of the most fun, crazy stories you can read about a very fun-loving ghost who helps people. She gets into all sort of enthralling craziness which is just an absolute pleasure to read. If you want a really fun read that will grab you from the first to last word, then I really cannot recommend Marble Grant stories enough. They are brilliant!
Destiny by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
This is the only original Fey story I've read so far but this single story really makes me excited for reading a lot more. Not only it is gripping and fascinating, it really shows the power of a single short story in worldbuilding. You might be expecting a small scale story, but it really does hint at a much larger more powerful world! So if you enjoy epic fantasy short stories filled with a fascinating plot, plenty of emotion and magic. Then I really cannot recommend this brilliant story enough!
Facing Down Extraordinary By Kari Kilgore
It was about a year ago that I first discovered the wonderful worlds and stories and writing of Kari Kilgore and I have never looked back. She writes great stories that are the perfect escape, entertaining and are just perfect. So this week I really want to recommend her short story collection "Facing Down Extraordinary" because these stories are such great tributes to normal people doing great things, and these stories are very entertaining. They're like some sort of guilty pleasure for me like are most of her stories. If you're looking for a great book to read this week. Definitely check out this one!
