December 2022 Book Recommendations

Holiday fantasy, holiday mystery and holiday romance book recommendations from December 2022

As I start to share all these science fiction, fantasy, mystery and romance book recommendations in blog post form, I have to admit it’s great to revisit some old book recommendations about some of my favourite books. These book recommendations are important to read because before writers become writers, they are readers. Therefore, please enjoy these fantasy and science fiction book recommendations from December 2022.

Jingle My Bells Edited By Dean Wesley Smith

December is an absolute nightmare for these book recommendations I'm quickly realising because my reading is so wildly varied and a lot of what I'm reading isn't published yet to bookstores so I can't recommend it. That stuff will have to be recommended next year, but I do have something brand new to recommend next week (I just need to read some more of it first). Until then I really want to recommend this really fun short story collection called 'Jingle My Bells' by WMG Publishing, Inc. and Dean Wesley Smith. I really want to recommend this collection because it's very seasonal as it is jam-packed with great holiday stories from Pulphouse and top writers. So you'll certainly get some weird, amazing stories that just shouldn't work but the Pulphouse writers are so skilful, they manage to perform their writing magic and all the stories work perfectly. So if this week you want to enjoy some great mystery and fantasy and science fiction stories that are a little weird and play with genres like a cat does a mouse. Then definitely check out this brilliant short story collection. You will seriously not be sorry you did so.

Big Book Of Christmas Mysteries edited by Otto Penzler

"The Big Book of Christmas Mysteries" because as I like to show in my own writing from time to time, Christmas isn't always a positive, crime-free time of year, and this Big Book definitely proves that. h Containing 100 great, gripping mysteries from across the full spectrum of mystery from hardboiled to soft-boiled to cozy mysteries. There's something for everyone in this highly entertaining collection. And something I found interesting was that because the Big Book contains writers from early last century in addition to more modern writers, it was very entertaining to see how the crime genre has evolved over the past century. If you want a Big Book filled with great mysteries this Christmas season, then definitely check out the Big Book Of Christmas Mysteries edited by Otto Penzler. Available at plenty of ebook retailers.

Smith's Monthly Issue 56 By Dean Wesley Smith

Continuing with the holiday theme of the past few book recommendations, this week I want to recommend "Smith's Monthly Issue 56" because it is an absolutely brilliant holiday themed issue of this sensational magazine filled with over 70,000 words of Dean Wesley Smith's own fiction. And the reason why I'm recommending this particular issue is because not only does it contain plenty of wonderful short stories that will excite, thrill and get readers very excited for the holiday season, but the novel is wonderful too. Since "The Christmas Gift" is the first Ghost Of A Chance novel I ever read and it is such a great introduction to the series. It's a wonderfully romantic, exciting book about ghosts, superheroes and them trying to save Christmas itself. And if you're thinking that sounds like the plot of every single little fantasy thing at this time of year then think again, because it is very, very original and definitely a gripping read. So if you want an absolute bargain read this Christmas week with addictive short stories and an unputdownable novel then you have to check out Smith's Monthly Issue 56. Available from all major booksellers.

A Poker Boy’s Christmas By Dean Wesley Smith

Happy holidays and Happy New Year everyone. For the last book recommendation of 2022 and the last christmas recommendation, I want to recommend "A Poker Boy Christmas" by Dean Wesley Smith. Besides from the fact that I've been reading a lot of unpublished stories this week so I cannot recommend them yet to all of you, I want to recommend this collection because of the absolutely amazing stories inside. Including two of my all-time favourite short stories, like the one where Poker Boy accidentally finds a mythical hotel inn that shocks all his friends, and there's a very... strange one about Poker Boy's ex-girlfriend with the boob implants that will kill her, but why? Overall, if you want some funny, delightful and simply spectacular short stories to read after holiday meals, in between family time or simply to help you relax after a very busy few days. Then this really is a wonderful collection to finish off the year with, and new year there will be plenty more book recommendations by a wide range of authors to enjoy here on Mondays. But until next year, definitely check out "A Poker Boy Christmas" major at all major booksellers.

I hope you enjoyed these book recommendations and if you want to see some of my own fantasy, science fiction, mystery and romance books. Then please click the hyperlink on the genre you want to explore. You won’t regret exploring these great books.
